Onibegie popup market

Event Concept, Set Design

Concept and set deign for a week long popup shop of Onibegie at Isetan Shinjuku.

Komatsu Matere's award-winning fabric Onibegie is made with synthetic fibres which is dyed using quercetin extracted from onion skins. Their unique processing technique to modify the fibres allows the fabric to produce nuanced colours that chemical dyes cannot, which can be seen on Onibegie bags in 61 colours.

Taking an inspiration from onions, the event plays on the language of farmers' market. The event featured the demos of the fabric dying by the company's research lab staff.
